Why You Should Turn To An Aromatherapy Oil

Aromatherapy is a process in which oils are drawn from their plant source by way of distilling. Aromatherapy oil can be used to treat both the physical body and the mind in a safe, gentle, and non intrusive manner.

All of us will suffer from an illness or injury at some point in our lives.  How many times have you gone to your doctor with a minor condition seeking help only to leave either empty handed or with a chemical solution.  Neither of these solutions are adequate.  What you could have done is turned to an aromatherapy oil.

Of course you should always seek medical attention for any problem that appears serious or is prolonged but an aromatherapy oil can be used to help with the common cold, or a bad dose of influenza.  It can be used to reduce stress and anxiety and it can be used to treat muscle aches and pains to name just a few uses.  They are also readily available and very affordable.  So what’s not to like?

There are too many different oils used to list in one article.  But there are some popular ones such as eucalyptus for colds and flue, pine for colds and disinfecting, lavender for migraine and r relaxing, chamomile for sleep and relaxation, jasmine for depression and anxiety, sweet marjoram for muscles, rose for insomnia and relaxation and ylang ylang for your nerves and to help lower your blood pressure.  Now that only scratches the surface of what you have available.

There are two methods that the aromatherapy oil can be used – you can either inhale it or apply it to your skin from which it will then be absorbed into the body.

When you inhale an aromatherapy oil the vapor is inhaled deep into the lungs.  It is believed it then incites the brain which then causes a reaction to the oil.  There is also the physical benefit of the vapors entering the lungs especially in treatment of colds, influenza, and respiratory ailments.  Always dilute.  A general inhalation recipe is 4 to 10 drops in 2 cups of boiling water placed in a metal bowl but always follow the directions provided by the oil’s manufacturer.

The second method entails apply the aromatherapy oil to the skin.  Again the oil must always be diluted.  When the oils is applied to the skin it becomes absorbed into the blood stream  Almond oil is a good carrier oil.  You will mix generally up to 20 drops into 1 ounce of almond oil.  The exact amount will depend on the oil and the directions provided by the oil maker.

You can mix one aromatherapy oil with another in a carrier base.  In fact you can mix as many as four oils together but it is important that the oils you mix together not only smell nice but are synergistic in their healing qualities.

There are thousands of healing recipes available online that will not only help you choose the right aromatherapy oil for your needs but also how to mix oils.

Don’t miss out on a truly wonderful experience.  Whichever aromatherapy oil or oils you choose to use always follow the directions of the maker and recognize that reactions may occasionally occur so it’s wise to always do a skin test.  If you have any health conditions always talk to your doctor before trying something new.

Isn’t it time you experienced what others have for more than a thousand years?  Isn’t it time to treat your mind, body, and soul with the right aromatherapy oil?
